Is there a way to take say a computer cable and easily model shrink wrap over mold for an abstract part? Something that looks like this? Thanks guys.
Not that I know of. We have some cable assemblies like that and I don't model the shrink tubing. I usually just draw a box with dashed lines around the area to be wrapped and balloon to the box, and maybe add a note saying to shrink it over this area.
Ok, thanks Jamil. I have never done it, but I have seen some molds made by taking a model and "sandwiching" it between two blanks to deform the blanks around the part. I was wondering if there was a similar process that could be used for modeling this sort of stuff. Thanks again.
You can create solid blocks that completely envelop the part and then subtract the part volume from the blocks. This can be done with the Cavity tool. However you would still need to manually generate the outer shape. If that shape is supposed to follow the contours of the part then it could get tricky.
Gotcha. Thanks man.
