Does the Edrawings 2015SE for 32bit systems support drawing files?
I installed it on a couple of the few PCs that we still have that runs 32 bit windows and it opens Models(.sldprt) and Assembly’s(.sldasm) with no issues, but when trying to open a drawing(.slddrw) file it crashes and closes the program.
anyone else notice this or have a solution?
I have got it to work but it only seems to work when EPDM is not also installed so hopefully your not using that. And i know i am opening and using the 2015SE version even through EPDM....
Still fighting it if I do find something that works I will post it here
No EPDM here, so I might be ok. Still have to test it on a 32 bit machine. Thanks for the update.
Just installed Edrawings 2015 SE for a 32bit user that was using Solidworks Viewer to print drawings out of our EPDM system. Since SW viewer has been replaced by Edrawings, I would have thought it would at least be functional for SW files. Now, our Engineering dept has to spend the time to print drawings instead of what they should be doing. Why? Why release something that doesn't work?
Are you saying that you can't print SW drawings from Edrawings 2015 SE?
I haven't been able to try it yet. This would be a major obstacle for us.
Outside of EPDM, I was able to open SLDDRWs and print them - for awhile. In EPDM, I was able to open a simple SLDPRT and then open the related SLDDRW once. Now, I cannot open a SLDDRW that is in EPDM without Edrawings 2015 SE crashing - either outside of EPDM or in EPDM. I've tried re-installing, same thing.
OK, so EPDM seems to be the culprit. Hopefully, since we aren't using that we'll be ok.
The EPDM issue stinks due to SW stating that there will be no updates to Edrawings 2015 SE. Maybe it can be fixed on the EPDM end?
It's almost like they knew there would be major issues but don't want to bother fixing them. So, they gave themselves an out.
If you are going to use this, please do a lot of testing before implementing it company-wide.
As for me, I will check into possibly fixing this in EPDM. If that fails, I guess I will be updating this users OS to 64bit or purchasing a new computer with a 64bit OS on it.
Ok it do have a solution its not the best but it does work.....
1) Uninstall EPDM & Edrawings 32bit
2) Reinstall Only EPDM
3) Open Administration software for EPDM on the 32 bit PC
a) Pick the user
b) Open user settings
c) Select Viewers
d) Pick the viewer that has extensions or add it:
sldasm, sldprt, slddrw, eprt, easm, edrw, dwg, dxf, 3dxml, stl, prt, xpr, asm, prtdot, asmdot, drwdot
e) Browse for fileviewer.exe
%ProgramFiles%\SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM\FileViewer.exe
f) add %1% to end of location
g) close Administration tool
4) search for the file you want and use the view file button or right click and pick view file (do not double click)
hopefully this works it seemed to for me but its a real pain
also if you need to see .dxf file you may want to install autodesk trueview software
I am having the same issue with my workstation. However I am not running EPDM anywhere, at all. I have my shop supervisor using eDrawings to print drawings created by the engineers with SolidWorks. This was working perfectly for months and suddenly it has stopped. Parts and assemblies still open fine, but not drawings.
Oh, man I hope this isn't true. I haven't been able to test the 32 bit version out yet.

This whole 2015 Edrawings saga may derail my rollout of SW2015. I'd say my users open drawing (slddrw) files 90% of the time.
