Using configure part how do I get the design table to automatically create a configuration name.

I've made a design table with the length of an extrusion being the property being modified. I have made some configuration and concatenated the pn into the configuration name into the name column. However when I attempt to edit a part in the assembly (right click configure part/assembly enter in new length) the part is made but has a "0" for the configuration name because it is creating the new part in the first unused row. If I drag my formulas to concatenate into unused rows (ie rows without a value for length yet) solidworks wont put the newly created lengths in that "used" row. Thanks for any tips.

what is the column to the right of the extrude column for?

The first column is the configuration, the second is the value that will change.

Also i'm not familiar with concatenate...

I am not quite following you. If you are trying to select a different configuration from within the assembly simply right click on the part select properties and select the new configuration. If you are trying to create a new configuration of the part you should be doing that at the part file level and not the assembly level.

Post your part file so I can test it for you.

Here is a simple bolt file with multiple configurations that works flawlessly.

Within the excel file you can also use formulas in any column / row to create the configuration name as long as the syntax and formatting of the cells are correct.
