I have a plastic tube, and a cylindrical cut-out on it's side. How can i flatten this cut-out?

Hi Guys!

I have a PE-HD (polyethylene high density) cylindrical tank, and I have to make a cut on the side of the tank.

How can I flatten this cut-out, so I know the real size of this circle?

You could model it as a sheetmetal part and then flatten it.

So you want the flattened shape to cut so that when it is rolled you have a perfect circle projected?
If so, I'd make a sheetmetal part with the correct radius of curvature, extrude cut the hole, then flatten the part to get the contour on the surface.
