How do I get 2015 to show up in my list of programs to 'default open' solidworks files with?

I have 2014 and 2015 installed. Whenever I open any of my files from an explorer window it tries to use 2014 and I often get "future version" error. Now, when I right click then "open with" and "choose default program" it only shows 2 things of solidworks 2014 and a solidworks launcher. The launcher will open the file in 2015 if I double click it but it will not keep it as the default opening program. Also when "browsing" for the program, I can find 2015 and double click, the dialogue disappears, and it still hasn't shown up on the list of programs to open the file. The "always use this program to open this kind of file" is grayed out also and can't be checked.

Go to the start flag->default programs. You should be able to change it there...I think. I only have 2015 loaded, so your results may vary.

  I see what you're saying but for some reason neither 2014 or 2015 shows up in the default programs if I access it from the start menu. Also, in the "associate filetypes" area, I can scroll down to .sldprt and it shows 2014 as the default. When I choose change program it shows the options of Solidworks 2014, Solidworks 2015, and Solidworks Launcher. I can select 2015 or the launcher and it still leaves it as 2014. Kinda odd, not sure what's going on. Thanks for your input Jeff.

    Hello;
    I'm having this problem also. I do show SW 2014 as my default program, in the recommended programs to open the files, but we are on SW 2015 and I want to replace 2014 as the default. Seems
    like It should be easier to do this. I can browse to 2015, but I want it to show up as the sensible default
    selector at this point. Maybe if I delete 2014 from the list it would be easier to replace it.

      I think that, instead of "Set your default programs" you should go to the following:

        Hello Dan;
        I'm not sure what's going on but if I browse back to the 2015 program, it just doesn't seem to want to
        accept it. I point it back to the right program, but it doesn't change it. Its like it's stuck on the 2014, even after I associate it to the 2015 through chosing a different default program.
        
        Any thoughts why?

        Thanks for the replies. Although I couldn't switch from 2014 as my default to 2015, I was able to correct it by switching to the SW launcher. There it allowed for choosing 2015, or 2014. There I was able to say choose 2015, but there was a check or something to say, don't ask me this each time, but open this with the same version. I didn't read that carefully before, not wanting to have to choose for every file. By doing that in around about way (by passing in a way the default set up options), now if I double click on a file etc., it will open it with 2015, & treat that as my default. It's a little weird to only see
        the 2014 & the Launcher, no 2015 in the default selection options, but it is good for me to at least resolved the issue, & we give any future users searching the issue some options to resolve things.
