When using the solidworks toolbox, there is the option of creating preset sized bolts. I would like to create an m5 bolt of size 65mm but the preset options only go up to 30mm. Is there any way for me to create a longer length bolt with the toolbox?
Yes. You need to use "Toolbox Settings", a program in the "SolidWorks Tools" folder. This program can be started using the windows start button or in the systems options for SolidWorks, under "Hole Wizard/Toolbox".
You can configure and add a new length to your toolbox
What type of Hex bolt you are looking? Have you checked different standards like ANSI, ISO etc..

Forgive me, I am fairly new at solidworks and I thought this would be a useful tool to use. I am trying to create an m5 bolt of length 65mm. In the design library I have chosen ANSI metric > Bolts and screws > socket head screws > socket button head cap screw. I have then tried to create the part but when it comes to the configuration it only has up to 30mm.
Which version of SW you use?
If it is later versions either 14 or 15, go to toolbox settings from the windows start, All programs
Go to the second tab>Customize Hardware and select proper standards
Add the length as shown
Hope this works
I did not think it would be that simple. That is a lot of help. Thank you very much.
