This is a simple drawing using 2 X 2 angle iron structure member. So can anyone tell me why my cut list shows item 4 as the wrong length? Its 5'' but the cutlist has it at 16''.
Paul it would be hard to say without looking at the file. Any chance if you can attach that to check.
After clicking reply, click on use advanced editor (top right corner of reply box) and then you can see the option to attach in bottom right corner.
See attached part
For some reason, item no. 4 is being renamed as 1 and hence table is picking that value. Rename it to 4 and this will solve the issue.
But none of the lengths are 5''. Both item 4 and item 1 are both 16''. I renamed it to 1 and its still 16''. I decided to not use the weld cut table and just went with a BOM table. The shop can read the measurements and make the part that way. But I still would like to know why this happens. It's happened before. but usually all I needed was to create a Trim/Extend file
Not sure why you renamed 4 to 1. When I renamed back to 4 it is working fine for me i.e. item 4 showed correct 5" length.
Attached is updated file.
Oh I didn't rename it there...
I changed it and it worked. Any idea why it used the # 1 data for part 4?
Where did you renamed that as feel it should warn yo when doing that.
The length is based on the cut list item so picking value for 1 seems to be correct.
The first time I just renamed it in the table. Not the tree.
I think I know what made it count that line as #1. Originally the drawing was a triangle. Then I added that short line. I'l bet it saw that as a new line and numbered it 1. But doesn't seem it should have done that but I'll bet thats why it did it.
I have had this issue on a few parts now that have gone to manufacture! Solidworks knows this is a issue and have given it high priority but apparently no fix in the up and coming SP3. This has cost my company money and I rely on cut list every day.
