In the Simulation Tab, is there a way to select all welds in one go and set them to "Treat as Solid"? Currently, I am selecting all welds in an assembly one by one, which is very time consuming.
what about ctrl/shift selecting them?
better question is probably why are they not solids in the first place? or could they be suppressed all together?
1. Ctrl/Shift is very time consuming.
2. I want the welds to be solids in the first place, but by default they are showing as beams. Is there any way to change the settings?
how have you created the welds in the first place? i'm surprised they are being idealized as beams automatically, is this a weldment?
what is the overall structure that you're trying to analyze? why are you wanting to include the welds? what are you looking to gain? There are a lot of great discussions about welds in this forum and how they are challenge in FEA.
The welds have been created by the Fillet Bead feature. Yes, this is a weldment. Is there a link to some good tutorial on how to simplify a weldment model to do an FEA? Especially when there is a gap between 2 members.
the first simplification is generally elimination of the welds
but otherwise follow the normal standard simplifications, if the part is not part of the load path or insignificant from a mass or stiffness perspective, eliminate it
gaps should generally be ok, just apply a bonded contact manually
Jared, thanks and noted.
