I'm struggling with layers in solidworks. Can anyone brief me about the layers in solidworks or give a short video about it.
I don't know how to use layers and what are the functionalities of layers.
Please help me...!!!

After viewing the link that Yuvaraj posted, if you have any specific questions be sure to come back and ask.
Start with the idea that many people don't use layers in SolidWorks at all. I've used layers only once, just to hide one sketch line in a drawing. I always thought they put layers in SolidWorks so that users coming from AutoCAD wouldn't freak out too much. (I'm probably wrong and will soon hear why.)
You're probably right about that; however, I use them and I didn't come from AutoCAD. Most of what I use them for could be done with the Line Format toolbar, but not everything.
Have you read the Help files regarding layers? The following links look the same, but they do show different pages.
2014 SOLIDWORKS Help - Layers
A simple example for their use is to place all dimensions onto one layer so that that layer can be easily hidden and the drawing cleared of dimensions.
Sorry for the late reply, I think the link Mr. Yuvaraj had sent me earlier was helpful to me. Thanks a lot.
Also Mr. Kelvin Lamport's links are also useful.
Thanks a lot guys.
We do use layers in our drawing.
To expand on Kelvin's example:
We like color in our drawings and have different colors for specific types of entities. This allows easy color management, consistency (options/document settings/ default layers), and the ability to easily hide things if needed. We have layers for dimensions, revisions, reference geometry, general notes, title block, hidden, etc.
Our drawing template is set to "per standard" on the layer toolbar so that new drawing entities are automatically created on the correct layer. Everybody's drawings then have a consistent look.
Thanks a lot Daen
