Engineers using Solidworks 2015.Will Composer 2014 open Solidworks 2015 assemblies?

Hi All,

Our engineers upgraded to Solidworks 2015. Composer is still a 2014 version. In trying to open an assembly I get the following error:

LitInteropSWCOM : OpenDoc failed : HRESULT = 0

LitInteropSWCOM : OpenDoc failed

Has anyone encountered this and is it just a version issue and I need to upgrade my composer??

If you have SOLIDWORKS 2015 installed on the same computer as Composer 2014, this should not be a problem.

However, if your Composer computer does not have SOLIDWORKS installed it will be using the 2014 Translator which cannot open 2015 SOLIDWORKS files.

You will need to:
- Upgrade to 2015 Composer
- Install 2015 SOLIdWORKS on your computer to act as the Translator(which can cause more problems then fix if you already have the Composer Translator installed)
- Have the engineers install the free Composer add-in and have them Save As, SMG file type.

  Thanks Alex. I thought that might be the issue. I'll have to upgrade Composer.
