Premium Static Simulation,

I'm doing a load a simulation study - static using solidworks 2015 - Premium.

The study works on single components, but fails on the assembly.

There are no interferences in the assembly.

The failure is on a pivot\hinge connection in the assembly.

Where can I find further details\guidance on the connections types and when to use them?
The assembly has been produced by adding components using mates ect - would it be better using more sub-assemblies?

and do I need to use connections between two components that have been assembled using mates ?
