Hi All,
I have a large assembly drawing (.step file) from our customer that has many assemblies in it, and I would like to make individual drawings that I can go back and edit later. I have been going into the model tree and isolating parts, then "make drawing from assembly" and then detail the drawings. The problem is that I can print the drawings, but am not sure how to save the drawings in case I need to edit them later. I am just closing the drawing file without saving and starting over on the next part. I am fairly new to Solidworks, so I am not sure if this is a newbie question.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Jerald
I think you should be using subassemblies for each group of parts that you want a separate drawing for. As easy way to create those subassemblies is to select the group of parts in the tree, the right click and choose "Form new subassembly here". Then you can open that subassembly on its own and save it to a new file name if you want. Then you can make a drawing of that subassembly and save it and go back and edit it later. You will still have the main assembly with all of the subassemblies in it to reference as well.
