Converting .NET 4.0 Addin to .NET 4.5 for SolidWorks 2015

Question asked by Michael Thomlinson on Jan 29, 2015

Greetings Everyone,

I can successfully create and manipulate .NET 4.0 SolidWorks Addins with Visual Studio 2010. We are planning on upgrading to SolidWorks 2015 and I have heard that 2015 supports .NET 4.5.

I have then taken my existing working addin and upgraded it with Visual Studio 2013 from .NET 4.0 to .NET 4.5. At which point it appears to build without an issue, however when I launch the addin from Visual Studio 2013 to test it the add in fails to load. It does however appear in the addin list but trying to activate it does nothing.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated since I have .NET 4.5 Entity Framework Libraries which I would very much like to tap into. These .NET 4.5 libraries are NOT third party and are developed by my dev team. I would like to avoid downgrading these libraries.
