When applying volume heat or surface to multiple entities the number of watts given by myself, lets say 30 watts. Is this applied individually for each part or their combined power is 30? Thanks in advance.
Its the total combined power. 2 Surfaces with 30W is 15W each.
You get to choose in the dialog box.. "Per item" Puts that load on each selected item. So if 2 surfaces are selected, and 30W is the entered value, the model is loaded with 60W.
"Total" takes your input and splits it among the number of selections. So if 2 surfaces are selected, and 30W is the entered value, the model is loaded with a total of 30W (15W per surface).
Isnt that just for regular Simulation. In flow this is all I have ... check attached picture. Thanks.
I misread it. Thank you.
It's that I do most of my thermal work in regular SImulation so I'm very used to it's dialogs for power/flux. I stand corrected.
No worries. Thanks for the input. I have been trying to use that as well. I'll probably message you for some help if you dont mind. What sort of simulations are you running if you dont mind me asking?
Well mostly heavy industrial furnaces, but at the opposite end of the spectrum, cooling of lighting enclosures. I am biased towards Sim Thermal because I had used it since the Cosmos days. I am currently using the Simulation API to squeeze more out of Sim Thermal before going to Flow Sim.
Sure, send me a message if you want to discuss,
it would be split evenly only if the surfaces are exactly even
otherwise it is based on volume/area
