I would like to export the residual stresses computed in Solidworks plastics and import it in another FEA package (ANSYS/Abaqus) to conduct more studies. Is there a way to export the stress results?
Thanks,
Nikhil

Abaqus can read an input file, mesh file, initial stress file, material file, etc.
Yes, there is an export option in the results section and it can export ANSYS readable ( *.db and initial stress file) and Abaqus readable (material file, input file and initial stress file) files. I tried reading the files in ANSYS but it gave an error message. I suspect thats because of older generation elements being used in Plastics which is currently not supported by ANSYS anymore. This is only a hunch, I have to dig more in to it. Will update as soon as I learn something.
Thanks,

what type of file does abaqus support for import?
the nodal output from the export should work for abaqus with some manipulation but I don't believe there is a direct export capability
