Same issue here it seems. Just done my first weldment and this happens..... see attached.
Just testing on a collegues machine, but she has reported massive memory and gdi resources being used, so will see if weldments are the cause.
using 16gb ram.
Close solidworks and open the same assembly again and its like this.
Doing it too on my colleagues machine. Will get onto my VAR.
A little tip to cut the memory down again, start your pack and go command.....

I'd like to show the problem in detail. First draw any 3d sketch like the following image:
then start Stuctural Member command and create groups like the following image:
at this point in editing mode only begin move your mouse cursor over graphics area or rotate, zoom and pan you model while
look to memory usage level in the task manager.
I found this problem in SolidWorks 2015 version only.

Excactly what I found, the minute you start using the structural member command anything you do, move mouse, zoom etc makes your memory go crazy.
I have reported it to my var so will see what happens.
Ok, I hope that Dassault Systemes Solidworks Corporation to solving this problem in next service pack.
SolidWorks have confirmed this issue and have created an SPR to get the problem resolved.

Just got an email stating this is fixed in 2016 A1..... WHAT!?
Me too. My VAR has opened an escalation request with solidworks, so will post once I have an update. I cant wait until 2016 for this one im afraid, We are having to close solidworks to clear memory up to 5 times a day!
Maybe they (SW) can release a hot fix for it.
This hopefully will be fixed in sp3.

Ouch and WOW! that's only 95 times more than my SW is using... I'm not sure how your computer hasn't melted into a puddle in front of you.

Weldment can be memory intensive especially if it is a big one.
Besides that i think 8GB of Ram should be the minimum requirement for a PC running solidworks.
