Selection Priority??

I'm having issues dealing with selecting faces mainly in assemblies.

When I am trying to select a face that happens to have vertexes and points behind it, the vertexes and points are what Solidworks grabs.  This is not so much of an issue in a smaller assembly (when the selection preview comes up when you cursor over a part), but when you are in large assembly mode it is frustrating as I have to click multiple times and see what it selects, hoping there is no vertex or point behind my selection click.  I checked to make sure there wasn't a filter accidentally active, but there are none.

Any ideas on how to set the selection priorities to select things in the foreground first rather than the background?  I know i could use filters, but I would rather not.
