So you want the gear mate to only activate in one direction. May I ask are you trying to show this in a demonstration or video or is it a SoildWorks assignement....more specifically, if you have a video showing it behaving correctly would that be adequate?
The funny thing is that I asked my teacher how to do it and he said "I am not really sure...".
Its my project for the finals, I cannot add a video demonstration and yes, I need that the mate will work only when there is a touch or only in one direction.
is it possible?
Can you upload the files? It might work with physical dynamics. SolidWorks 2016 has a slick feature to lock and unlock mates as needed which might do the trick but doesnt help you today.
Without knowing the particulars of your mechanism, perhaps you could create a ratcheting mechanism like the attached files. This uses a path mate between the two parts. Although technically it can slide both ways, the square tooth profile means the green part has to be lifted before it can go backwards...
Parts are in SW2013 format.
