I have many Files is a folder that I need to update and/or add custom properties to. Is there a way to do this? An add-in or stand alone program that would allow me to select several SW files and update properties, all at once?
Are you aware of the SolidWorks Task Scheduler found in your programs list. It has the ability to update custom properties for multiple files or an entire folder.Click on it and choose help if you would like more information. Hope it helps!
Are you aware that you can copy and paste custom properties? It's not as straightforward as it ought to be, but it can save a lot of time. You'll run into trouble if any of the properties that you're pasting already exist in the new file, so make sure there isn't any overlap before pasting.
Thanks, never thought about task scheduler. I was starting a SW assembly file, dragging a whole folder full of parts into it, selecting all the parts and changing the custom properties using custom properties pane and then doing a save all. But the task scheduler is the way to go.
Hi all. I tried this but if I select some assembly as the file to change the properties of, I get an error saying that this file type is not supported. With other assemblies, it does not say that... ????
Anyone know what the issue is here?
Also the advantage with the Task scheduler is that you can set it to run over night while you're sleeping. Further I would also recommend to keep a backup of the files before doing any changes.
If the Task scheduler is not something can help you then there are plenty of free macros on this forum which can help you out.
