Hi AlI, had A recent cad exam that didnt go to well. it was to model 3 revolves. the first being the coffe pot base (below). I struggled with how to do the top part of the handle, I sketched the profile on a plane at the top of the handle and then done a swept boss. not sure if this is the correct modelling technique, but very unclear how to do section C-C at the top of the handle and Detail T to finish this off (Ive attached the pdf of 2d drawings) would be grateful for some screenshots of correct modelling technique.please....cheers
Well I think you were definitely on the right track. One thing I want to point out is that the bottom of your handle stops at the tangent of the circular base, rather than continuing into it, so you have a gap there. You should extend the path for the sweep into the base enough so that the sides of the handle run all the way into the base. If necessary you could always cut out the middle of the base again if the handle stuck too far in, but I put it tangent to the ID and that seemed far enough, so no extra cutting was needed.
For finishing the handle, first you can easily add the 10 mm radius to both corners using a fillet. At first I was confused about the geometry being depicted in Section C-C but I believe it is a simple extruded cut. So one method to achieve this is to create a plane parallel to the bottom of the base and coincident with the bottom of the end of the handle (where the 2.05 dimension measures from). Then sketch the crescent shape and cut extrude it 2.05 mm.
