If the geometry is toroidal, cylindrical or spherical then why not try the symmetry restraint on the cut faces of a pi/10 piepiece? There is a tutorial model of an o-ring in the online help of cosmos works that will aid understanding of the symmetry restraint type.
i know the procedure.
i want to know results comparison.
If done correctly, you'll get the same results using symmetry and full model. There are many cases where the symmetry model will give BETTER results because you don't have to try to "fake" restraints normal to the cut plane.
Remember, geometry, loads, AND restraints have to be symmetric. If this is the case, the only reason not to use symmetry is if it would take longer to explain why you only ran half the model to your boss than to actually run the whole thing!
