In solidworks inspection, how do you add dimensions or notes that did not get extracted during the automatic extraction? (or how to get notes or dimensions into the characteristic tree?)
Brandi, is this the SolidWorks Add-In version vs. the PDF version of the software, correct? If it skipped certain dimensions or notes it could be several things. I do not believe there i a way to manually add dimensions or notes with the Add-In. The PDF version allows for a bit more flexibility in this area.
1. See that the appropriate checkboxes for dimensions GTOLS, Notes, ect.. are all set when going through the Extraction setting page (The second page in the process)< see picture.
2. On that same extraction settings page, there is a box for "extraction criteria" Copy and past e the contents of this to a text file in notepad so you don't loose the default settings. Clear this box and see what happens when you extract all the dimensions. You can play with what works and what doesn't work through trial and error, or learn the logic that this uses, which is available to learn at http://mysupport.inspectionxpert.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/22/44/how-do-i-edit-the-criteria-for-note-ext…
There is a YouTube video I made on the process at: Ballooning and Inspection -- How much time will YOU save - YouTube
Michael is correct.
Also, make sure Auto-Balloon is checked in the first step (so that the balloon are automatically added)
If you didn't check that Auto Balloon option, you click here to add the balloons later on:
Finally, there is now a Quick Start Guide (~ 50 pages) in the latest version of SOLIDWORKS Inspection. This should help you get the full benefits of SOLIDWORKS Inspection.
