My window's7 OS will not allow Draftsight to be the default program for dwg files. This started when I update my Draftsight to 2015. It won't let me change the setting for Edrawing. Has anyone else had this problem?

I use Draftsight for creating 2d router files from raw dwg files that have been created in Solidworks. I've been pleased with its capabilities and have stopped using my 2005 AutoCad software, which is not 64bit compatible, requiring me to use it through a virtual pc. When I upgraded my Draftsight software to 2015, all my dwg files switch to eDrawing Viewer for their default program. Now Windows 7 won't let me switch back. It won't except that Draftsight is compatible with the files. I can open them open them using the open file command in Draghtsight, but this is a tedious way to open them. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm out of ideas. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Did you install eDrawings after you installed Draftsight?

Try re-installing Draftsight and see if that fixes it.

This started when I upgraded my Draftsight from 2014 to 2015. It still is the default program for dxf, but not dwg. The funny thing, with it all, is I upgraded my software because my company received a dwg file that I couldn't open. I upgraded my Draftsight, to see if that would let me open the file.

I will give it a try. Can't hurt, right?

Have you tried right mouse click on any .dwg file in windows explorer and choose from the menu -> open with -> choose default program

That was my first try. Window's won't except Drightsight as a compatible program.

I have Win7,SOLIDWORKS 2015 and Draftsight 2015. I don't have any issue with not being able to set Draftsight as the default program.

I have seen the issue when installing new versions of Draftsight but have always been able to set as default

As Ingvar described, or select from Toolbar in Windows Explorer
