I tried to copy with mates in SW 2015 SP1.1 but when I try to add the new mate references, it says:
"These mate selections conflict with existing mates"
It seems like the new mates are using old references and they cannot "override" the old mate refs with the new mate refs. I say this because the new mates are surfaces that should be compatible with coincident and concentric.
Ok, we, (my VAR and I) fixed this issue by docking the mates window in the model tree area. Then we restarted solidworks and tried copy with mates again and it worked.
Did your var open an SPR with SolidWorks? This sounds like a bug.
Yes, and I have been added to the already existing SPR so I will be alerted when it is fixed.
Thank you, Ed! I thought I was going crazy or had a virus or something. After using copy with mates forever, it suddenly stopped working yesterday and blowing up already mated assemblies.
I would have never have guessed it was because I recently undocked the mate window, as I find it handier than having to go over to the left of the screen each time to accept the mates, as well as the feature tree is easier to work with than when it's a "fly-out". Finding your post saved the day!

I recently started having an un-docked property window (as it's very useful to see the tree and select planes etc there unimpeded by the property tab) shame I can't continue to do this!
This is still a problem, SolidWorks 2016 SP5.
Can you please share the SPR number, I'd like to find out when or more likely if this getting fixed?
