Hi im trying to use circular pattern to pattern 2 features but i keep getting an error.
i attached a photo and the sketch.
Sometimes it´s good to use bodies instead. Have a look at my file.
Try creating an axis to pattern around. It is more stable than a circular edge.
As Ingvar said, it's better to have "Bodies to Pattern" selected when patterning bodies. And for another suggestion, if you're only adding one instance it might be easier/better to mirror the body instead of circular pattern.
I think the error is being caused because the end condition of Boss-Extrude4 is "Up To Surface" going up to a plane. Then in the circular pattern SW is trying to make the patterned extrude go up to the same surface, which doesn't work. If you change that extrude to a blind length then it should work.
Another option if you want to keep the "Up To Surface" end condition is to pattern Faces instead of features, then select all of the faces on those parts you want patterned.
I agree with the others that usually patterning bodies is best, but in this case you don't actually have it as a separate body, so you'd need to change your extrude to overlap the dome without merging, then pattern bodies, then combine. That involves extra steps and is not necessary.
That worked, thanks allot!
problem solved, used faces instead of features to pattern. thanks allot everyone!
