Dynamically show planes when mouse over in mate mode?

I've been a solidworks user since Solidworks 95 and the method of selecting planes as mates has always bothered me. For example with an assembly of 50 or more parts, mating planes of two parts is time consuming. You have to use the tree to find part 1 plane 'A', then part 2 Plane 'B', sometimes expanding multiple levels of the assembly. In the past I've asked this question on forums and at trade shows only to be told you just need to to display planes. That's not a solution, I don't want to see hundreds of planes all the time, I only want to see the planes of the part my mouse is under when in mate mode.

Many years ago there was a plugin that came close to doing this. Does any on remember the name of that plugin or have a new solution?
