# Smart Dimension Problem

Hello,

I want to give a dimension (parallel to x axis) between the edge of the duct (inner circle) and top of the spinner. I clicked on the spinner and the edge but I got a dimension in y axis. I've tried to move my mouse around also but It didn't help. (even right click to unlock a direction because I think it locks the dimension to be in y axis only)

Is there any good solution?

Thank you

I don't understand the dimension you want. Looks like the top of the spinner sits on the Y axis, at the center of your duct. The X axis is radial to the duct, so your dimension is the duct radius?

Probably going to need to create a reference sketch or plane to use as a mate reference. You would end up editing your sketch, not the mate, to change the position of the item.

What is the purpose of the dimension?
