I had a copy of Solidworks installed, but after updating from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, the install got corrupted, and I found that the install/uninstall wizard would not launch on the new 8.1 system (I just got a blank screen). After attempting to remove the program by hand, my computer still seems to believe it is installed, preventing me from installing any newer versions. I want to just completely wipe anything Solidworks off my computer so I can start fresh with a new install.
You most likely got the blank screen because of additional security placed on the IE files used in the installer. To remove manually it will be kinda if not very painful as you have to not just remove the installation files, registry entries for SolidWorks, but also the files and registry entries used by the Windows installer.
I have attached a clean re-install document for reference, but usually we perform the Windows installer cleaning manually and do not document as each machine can be slightly different.
I would advise once you have everything cleaned off, to use this application from Microsoft to see if it will help clean. If not you will have to get your VAR involved.
