It is possible. Try to use Multi-jog leader. Click once in one end and twice in the second end. Next, right click on one end and set arrow to nothing.
I'll give it a go, just seams a hell of a performance just to get a simple line with a arrow head at one end.
Don't you think the developers would have thought of the simple draughting tasks first..............
You could insert a note with a leader, hit your space bar a time or two for text to create the leader with no text, then save it as a Style in your template.
Although I have run into things that seem a bit different (maybe more difficult) from what I was used to 18 years ago when using AutoCAD, you must keep in mind that SW was not created as a drafting program but as a 3D Solid Modeling Program. As the years have passed, the 2D drawing capabilities have gotten quite a bit better.
I'm a little curious about why you want a leader with nothing attached to it. You stated that you want it to go from an object to a symbol. I am pretty sure that the symbol could be added (maybe as a block) to the end of the leader. At any rate, the suggestions given by the others in this thread will provide a method for you.
