patterning a combine feature

I keep getting an error when I try to pattern a combine feature. It gives me this message "Unable to pattern the selected feature Combine 1" it is basically the same as an extrude cut, so why will it not pattern?

No one else has this question

Maybe you could pattern the body/bodies before the combine and then include them all in the combine.

as jamil says, pattern the body then combine. if that is not feasible, you could instead use the "faces to pattern" option and select the faces of your "cut".
