Took the SolidWorks class at Eastern Florida State College. Would like to learn how and prepare for the CSWA-S test. Can students get the FEA package to study?
Student versions of SolidWorks are premium versions and should have Simulation as part of the package.
I saw the Simulation but it was limited to only one fixture condition which was "Rigid" - "Rigid". When solving for a model where one of both of the ends are "Pinned" one would get very incorrect stresses. There is a bunch of free beam software out there that one can play with and see the differences.
Were you looking at Simulation Xpress? Full-blown simulation is an add-in that you have to choose to have active via the add-ins menu. The SolidWorks website shows that Simulation Premium is included in the education version: MCAD Education Software from SOLIDWORKS SOLIDWORKS
Oh, OK. I see that. The student version that we were given the link to only had Simulation Xpress shown in the menu. Ok, then I will try to activate the Simulation Premium through the Add-ins on the version that I have. Thanks...!
I'm sorry, I looked but couldn't find an Add-in that had the SimulationPremium available. I'm wondering if the software download link we used for school doesn't allow us access. But, its very possible I'm missing something. This is what came up when I clicked Tools/Add-Ins...
If its available how do I activate it? Do I need to download it?
