I have a bill of materials as per the attached image.
I have highlighted the issue. I have two window frames Item 20. Item 20.1 shows RSA60x60x6 but the quantity is 4 when it should be 8 if there are two window frames.
Why is it not picking up that there should be 8 pieces of angle?
That is what I'm asking? Why is it showing 4 not 8.
Let´s think of one sub assembly with 4 identical parts in it and let´s say that we we have two of these sub assemblies in the top level assembly. The Bom for the top level assembly would be:
For the three different options we have.
8 parts for all of them in the assembly.

That's the way indented bills work. It shows you have 2 assys with each assy having 4 angles.
If you want totals you will have to use the Parts only option.
Well that's limited. I prefer to have total number of pieces, my workshop guys need everything spelled out for them 2 windows, 8 pieces of angle.
If I use parts only then I can't get a detailed cut list in the sub-assembly I'm doing a BOM for.
You can dissolve the subassembly in the assembly model. Or if you don't want to for some reason, you can dissolve it in the BOM.
The window frame is a part file in a sub-assembly. Looks like I will just have to manually edit the BOM as we use flat numbering in my company.
How you set it up with indented detailed numbering in your bom. You have 2 items (20) with 4 items (20.1) each in it 2x4=8.
