Hi,
I'm trying to create a cut pattern around the edge of a shape. (A guitar, in this case.) So far I can only manage cutting straigt through everything- instead, the hexagons should conform to the sides of the guitar. Any help/tools to use?

Thanks for your help! Yeah, this is similar to what I was trying to do. I ended up, however, just making a second front plane at the base of the guitar, drawing a hexagon there, and creating a curve-driven pattern all around the guitar.

I was going to suggest inserting the plane as you have,
and that maybe you should shell the model after the "Border" extrude
but I didn't want to get beyond your design intent-
