I have a top level assy in SW 2014 with subassy's each possessing multiple configurations. When I right click on a configured subassy in the top level tree a configuration pulldown doesn't appear. How can I get this configuration pulldown to appear?
It's a context toolbar setting, check this disscusion, there's a picture of the option:
changing cofig by left mouse click sw14
Make sure you are clicking on the subassembly. If you do it in graphics area, first right click on some part of this subassembly, from context menu select "Select subassembly". After you do it the configuration pulldown should appear.
If you do it like this, and the configuration pulldown doesn't show, without simple example attached it will be hard to say what is the reason.
I don't know why the pull-down isn't appearing. Have you tried re-booting your computer since this started? That's usually the first thing I try when I get unexpected behavior from SW. If that doesn't fix it, is it just on this one assembly or others on your computer? If all else fails, you should be able to go back to the old method of right-clicking on the sub-assembly in the tree and going to Properties to choose the configuration.
Hello Wojciech & Glenn,
This is a new computer and Job; at my last place of employment I didn't have this issue.
I've done the following as you've suggested:
1. Ensured I selected the sub assy by selecting using both methods in the window with the context menu "Select Subassembly" option and also just a straight to the model tree selection
-With regard to the simple example an similar setup would be a pneumatic cylinder assy with extend and retract configurations paced in an upper level assy or are you asking for me to specifically post an assy?
2. I've rebooted my machine, however this issue has been present since my start at my current company 6 weeks ago. Prior to that I've never encountered this situation
3. I've opened other assys and encountered this same issue, as a sanity check I had a coworker do the same. Though I was not able to reach the configuration pulldown they were able to.
-With regard to the method of right-clicking the sub assy in tree and selecting properties followed by choosing configuration that's what I currently am doing but I'm just trying to cut down my time and mouse clicks, every little bit counts.
I certainly appreciate both of your inputs,
Thank you Mark. I was going nuts trying to find that setting. I thought it was at Tools > Options.
Thanks Mark, I'm grateful for your and the others input.
