SolidWorks Educational Edition 2014 Fails to INstall

Question asked by Patrick Bisson on Nov 14, 2014

I'm trying to install my brand new SolidWorks Educational Edition 2014 (from the DVD or even from a copy on my HDD). But, when it get's to about 35%, the installation fails with a "SolidWorks Installation Manager" error dialog that reads: "Internal error: The Windows Installer for this product component did not run as expected: Vsta. Contact Technical Support"

Now, this is a Windows 7 x64 SP1 OS running on a Toshiba Satellite A665 with 12MB ram, Intel I7 cpu with more than 300GB HDD space. I've got my antivirus program turned off and I've got a working internet connection.

Do you think someone could help me out with this problem? I have an installation log available if anyone wants to examine it. For now though, I'll just attach a screen grab of the error dialog. Has anyone seen this problem before?

I really need to get SolidWorks working! I have projects to do and things to make!
