How can I devolve my solidworks edition from 2015 SP0 to 2014 SP5?
The quick way would be to uninstall 2015 and install 2014 provided you've the installation files/media for 2014. The only drawback would be that files which have been saved in 2015 can't be open up in the 2014 version.
The other would be to install both version but again you won't be able to open 2015 files in 2014.
Any specific issue/reason for switching back to 2014.
Precisely that reason, that we will probably mult-iinstall 2015 next year and till then others will need to access the files. I was hoping I could re-install 2014 SP5 through the SW software. Will we have to get the disks out?
The disks are probably going to be SP0. Instead of installing from them, log onto the customer portal and download the installation manager for 2014 SP5. You can use that to download the files needed to install to all of your workstations
Thanks for asking this. I'm also needing to revert or do an additional install of SW 2014. I truly wish I hadn't hit the "upgrade" option yesterday...
My primary reason for going back to SW 2014 is that eDrawings published in SW 2015 must be viewed in the eDrawings 2015 version. eDrawings 2015 is universally LOATHED by myself, and more importantly, the several people who view my work in eDrawings.
eDrawings 2015 now appears to be a Windows 8 looking "App". One must dig through menus for what could once be on permanent display as a toolbar. Color is gone from the Menu, unless you're into Gray and Puke Green. Our 3Dconnexion Space Navigators don't work with eDrawings 2015. At all, with the latest drivers. There is now no advantage to using eDrawings with a real computer rather than a tablet, due to this dumbing-down of a once excellent product.
