I have created a sheet metal part with a normal cut through it, but when I flatten it, it shows the material removed instead of the material remaining after the cut. Any ideas?

It is designed as a multi-body sheet metal fabrication. The geometry of the separate parts depend upon each other. The parts will flatten but the bottom part shows the material removed not the material remaining after the normal cut.
Can you post an image ? I do not see what you are seeing in this part, sorry.

Why are you trying to create all this in one part ? Instead of assembly with parts.
