[BOM] Changes to subassembly not propagated correctly in BOM of parent assembly.

    Pierre Khoury

      Hi all,

I'm relatively new to Solidworks, and I'm having an issue with updating some of my drawings.

      Herre is the a situation:

      -I have a parent assembly A.

      -I have, let's say, 4 subassemblies: A1 A2 A3 A4.

-So initially, the BOM for A should look like this:

      ITEM P/NDESCRIPTION
      1A1THIS IS A1
      2A2THIS IS A2
      3A3THIS IS A3
      4A4THIS IS A4

-Now, I make some (small) changes to the subassembly A2, maybe move a part or change a screw.

I keep part numbers and descriptions the same for the subassembly, and don't even move it in the parent assy.

-My issue appears when I want to reload and update the drawing for the parent assembly A:

The BOM thinks that the subassembly I modified (A2), has been deleted and readded. It looks like this:

      ITEM P/NDESCRIPTION
      1A1THIS IS A1
      2A2THIS IS A2
      3A3THIS IS A3
      4A4THIS IS A4
      5A2THIS IS A2

-I want the BOM to stay consistent across revisions of my parent assembly,

by keeping the same item  number for subassemblies, even if they have been modified.

What am I dooing wrong? Or what can I do to fix this issue?

Thank you all in advance for your help,

let me know if something is not clear or if you need more precisions.

      Best,

      Pierre
