Has anyone seen flatten surface as a feature in 2015?
To put flatten in Premium only is inexcusable and Dassault SolidWorks, with SW2015, because of greed, has broken it's own gold-rule that was clearly established since the initial release and that is: "any modeling related features will be part of the core offering."
Heard it somewhere that it was supposed to be in premium. Not in standard and not in pro. I hope I am wrong.
Ingvar is correct. At this time, it is available only in SW Premium.
For what it's worth I just loaded 2015 premium and the first tool I tried was the flatten surface.
It appears to have worked perfectly.
I agree that it is underhanded and totally greed motivated to force the user to pay extra for a core tool.
Addons like circuit works or routing are a different matter. But core functions need to be freely available to the most basic user.
This new flatten surface tool should be treated like any sheet metal tool.
This is a bad precedent to set! What will they charge extra for next?
I have the only seat of premium in our company and the potential exists that we would all need this tool.
I don't like the idea of my data and functionality being held for ransom.
Interesting. Normally I write off such screeds as a user who is crying about not getting what he didn't pay for. Considering the highly reputable source <100% sincerity, absolutely zero sarcasm> , this is a pretty strong indictment of SW. Sad to hear.
To add insult to injury, the feature is there for all to see.. just greyed out!
