I am trying to create an organic handle shape, however unsure on how to begin the process.

I tried extruding the shape from the side view and then extrude cutting from the top view, in hopes to fillet it into shape later on. However this was not the case as was not able to create the right resulting shape. Any advice on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Please ignore the cylindrical parts as these are representing brush rollers, and the main focus is creating the handle.
