EPDM opens many documents with single part check out

Hello all!

At work, we have some sizable assemblies in EPDM that have a long update history.

We have some issues where you open certain assemblies and then legacy parts which no longer exist in the assembly open with it.  The links are there, yet somehow hidden.  How do we fix this behavior?

Another issue we have is when you open certain parts of the assembly straight from the EPDM browser, it will sometimes open up hundreds of other parts that exist with that part in a main assembly (it also opens the main assembly, and asks for each individual item whether you want to check it out or not).

Obviously this is not good.  At all.  It often crashes Solidworks.  The "workaround" is to open the most recent version of the assembly and then open individual parts from there.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you!
