I get the error-message "Zero Thickness geometry" - how do I find the error in a complex sketch?

If a sketch contains an error, such as 3 lines joined at one point,  it can't be used for, say, an extrusion - and then Solidworks highlights the point in the sketch where the error occurred. That's very helpful! When the error is that an extrusion would result in "Zero Thickness Geometry" - Solidworks DOES NOT help to find where the error lies in the sketch!

In a complex sketch, it can be very frustrating to try to find what caused the error. Can anyone suggest a better way that 'trial and error' to repair the original sketch?
