Can soildworks produce Bullnose Corners in sheet metal and provide a flat pattern?
The Swept Flange feature will create a rounded (bullnose) corner which can be flattened, but I don't know how accurate the flat would be because some major material stretching would be taking place. You would need special forming tools to create the actual metal part.
If you post an image of the part you may get a more specific answer.
We rarely get asked to make these parts and when we do I rely on my old school sheet metal development and form the parts via press brake and hand dress the actual corner into shape. Every job always uses a different radius and was hoping solid works had a magic button to develop the pattern required. I understand that because of un-natural forming directions / shaping the metal this would to me think difficult for solid works to understand, but would love to know if they had cracked it.
I have a couple of images hear to show you what sort of pattern I'm trying to achieve. Thanks
