Getting unable to open master database due to the following database access error when opening assembly model for one user.
SW 2014-SP4. Any clue?
Any help would be great.
Based on some troubleshooting by our VAR on a separate issue, I applied the same fix and it worked for this also.
The C:\ProgramData folder on the user's machine was hidden by default. Changing it to "Show hidden files, folder or drives" in windows fixed the error message.
Apparently SW files are installed in this folder and hiding it causes multiple problems.
Are you running network license or standalone?
If it is standalone then possibility of corruption of the database file. For this open the SWBROWSER.mdb file in Microsoft Access®. Once file has been open completely then simply close the file and check.
Also check if on his/her machine, uncheck No Preview On Open option under Tools > Options > Performance if this helps (per SPR #: 685318)
Thank you for replying.
Network license - and No Preview on Open is unchecked. When checking Hole Wizard/Toolbox location in options I got same error message when I clicked on it.
I cant recreate the issue on my machine. It seem fine from my side but this user is consistently getting this message.
Is the toolbox under common location OR installed locally in each machine. Either way can you open the MDB file and check (as suggested above)
Toolbox is in common location on network. I will try the suggestion to open toolbox db.
Opening the toolbox db did not seem to solve the issue - the user is still getting the errror message.
We just got new workstations and have been having all sorts of issues.
Wondering if a new install of SW is called for.
Time to call your VAR (the company from where you bought SOLIDWORKS)
Thanks, Will do. I appreciate your time and effort.
