i just installed 2015 and i was happy to see the surface flatten ability it has. however the button is greyed out and does not become active no matter what type of surface i create. Any ideas?
As mentioned here : 2015 What's New in SolidWorks - Flattening Surfaces
You need SolidWorks Premium
Such a shame it isn't available to all.
Really wish Solidworks would tell me that! Instead I wasted time searching on the internet for nothing....
David, SW Help should be the first place to look for help/understanding
Of course, but wouldn't make much more sense to tell you in the application? Say you didn't have internet. Every other time a feature is greyed out it usually indicates that some input is missing (for instance "thicken cut" when no solids are visible).
Hey I did a post on the Flatten feature - and in the process, found another add-in you can purchase quite cheaply from http://www.solid3dtech.com/ this link takes you to the SOLIDWORKS version. unfold (unwrap, flatten, unroll) surface for solidworks Not sure if it has it has the same functionality Deformation plot etc., but you can trial it for a small cost.
Alex... great links.. thanks for helping people find a alternate for a feature which SHOULD BE in SW Standard!
..isn't that sweet... I'm being moderated....
I agree. I wish it was in all packages.
