Our company does not use PDM so I'm not familiar with it so I will just throw a different spin on your question... Why don't you just set up your drawing templates to instead link to the custom property that you require? Ex: in your part, have your custom property named as above "DWG REV" and then in your drawing revision box have it say $PRPSHEET:"DWG REV". Then when you change your revision within the part it updates on your drawing automatically (assuming you have a one part per page setup).
Just an idea - I realize it's not quite what you asked but I thought I'd just put it out there.
Have a good day!!
I need the part to get the rev from the drawing, not the drawing to get the rev from the part. This is all so I can use it in an assembly BOM and have a column of dwg revs.
Thanks for the suggestion, though!
Why not have the PDM to push the data to all files you want (both part and drawing)?
Don't know what PDM you got but that is what we are doing with Teamcenter. The requirement is that both files (datasets) are in the same item. It is most likely possible in EPDM as well.
Messing on client side with macros would be the last option....
I'm using workgroup PDM 2014.
I've never even heard of that type of functionality, how would I access the interface?
Since I have never seen that PDM system I can not give more than the idea.
Are you able to store multiple files in one item (part number) in that PDM? If so, you kind of must be able to push that data to both files. Since you already are pushing part number, description etc to the files.
Well, that is just an idea that I would fight for. Even if the drawing and part are separated in the PDM. You still need a way if setting up the relation between them.
Perhaps you should create a new post or move this to the PDM section.
Asking in the PDM section is a good idea, I'll poke around over there after the weekend.
Thanks for the suggestions and info
