SW2006 home install failures

I've been trying to install 2006 on my home computer. I do a clean install after clearing all files and registry entries.

Install appears to work fine but when I launch SWX I get the startup advertisement followed by the "SolidWorks has encountered a problem and must shut down. Sorry for the inconvienience" error message.

I tried to run SolidWorks Rx and it tries to run diagnostics but it comes up with no results and I am looking at an hourglass.

This is a new machine. Intel core duo, 1Gb, XP Pro.

I've never had an install go this bad. Any ideas? VAR has not been able to help so far.

The only thing I can think of that is out of the ordinary about this system is that it's set up with RAID0 striped drives. I didn't think that would cause any software issues. Other programs, Outlook, MS Office etc are running fine on this machine.

I guess it wouldn't be too late to start over on this machine and install SWX before anything else and hopefully resolve any conflicts but I'd prefer not to.

Ideas please.
