Checked Out Parts Newer Than Vault.

Hi Folks,

Started getting some strange behaviour in PDM recently, if i check out an assembly, where every part it is referencing is from the Vault, as soon as it opens every part in the File Explorer view shows up as being newer than the Vault version, even though i haven't touched them.
I created a test assembly but that worked fine, where i checked it out and the files showed as being equal to the Vault, but every other assembly has this problem. We have it set in PDM Options to use Latest Version and compare with File On Disk instead of in Memory.
We haven't updated or changed anything to cause it to start doing this.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Are the files you're checking out an older version of SolidWorks than what's currently loaded on your machine?

No, we've only ever used 2005, we'll be upgrading next month to 2007. It happens with assemblies i've built over the last few months that worked fine at the time.

I'm just sort of thinking out loud here...
Does it happen on all machines or just one?
If you check the assembly back in (holding the rev or making it a working copy), then check it out again, do you get the same results?
You're sure that there hasn't been an SP applied (not that that should cause said behavior)?

In your PDMWorks options are you comparing states to files in memory, or on the disk?

Jeff, yes i get the same results, I even checked out a part then chose the Upload/Reload from Vault command, I get an error saying my local copy appears to be newer than the Vault and do I want to overwrite it, when i select yes it still doesn't change to being equal to the Vault, just stays at being newer.

Pete, it's set to compare to disk.

It's a gremlin. Make sure you don't feed it after midnight.

When did this start happening, and where are you located? I'm wondering if daylight savings time isn't the cause. Stop and start the service, and double check to make sure that the server time is correct. Maybe not. I just reread your original post and your second paragraph would disprove my theory...I think.

Seems to be back to normal now.

Was going to get IT to restart the service when everybody had left today, but the server crashed and we couldn't Login.

Got IT to restart the service and it's all working as it should again.
