It's that time of year again!  SolidWorks Rollout Meetings

GoEngineer Dallas held Casino Night at the Westin Hotel at the Galleria Mall last night.  Here's my notes from the event:

1.  Announced the  Mojo 3D Printer - $6k ($172 per month) - small but looked very useful
2.  Announced GoEngineer Kids Camp - my 11 year old daughter went to one of the camps and had a blast learning SolidWorks and 3D printing
3.  SolidWorks 2015 Enchancements:
Zonal Sectioning (like intersection)
Variable patterns using a spreadsheet
Replace mate surfaces - when an error occurs, you replace one face and all the rest of the errors that use that lost face can be updated as well
Nonlinear results in simulation can now be displayed as they are calculated
Profile center mate - mate a rectangular surface to a another rectangular surface and you can now tell it to center the surfaces

Isolate mates - pick a mate and hit isolate parts and only the parts used by the mate are visible
Radial explosions - just linear linear explosions
Selection sets - sets can be stored and recalled
Dynamic references in tree - you can see parent and child relationships graphically in tree
Sort interferences by size and now you can turn off anything smaller than current selected
Self contact for simulation

Treehouse (back from 2005) - cool assy structure tool (could have used this 10 to 20 years ago when we made drawing trees - this might make a comeback for drawing trees
Angular Dim Manipulator - don't have to draw vertical or horizontal lines to make angular dimensions
Drawing zones - can be referenced in revision blocks
Open in Position (opens part in same orientation as drawing view)
eDrawings (cool augmented reality)

Routing square ducts
Sheet metal mirror - didn't see this explained
Chain pattern - super cool - made a wire track chain that was driven by a sketch and updated live
Flatten surface - very cool
Lofted bends with non-parallel sections
Mini-Configuration Selection pulldown menu dockable anywhere
