SolidWorks introduced a stick font OLF SimpleSansOC in 2014.  Great, now what?  This would actually help me if I could extrude the sketch text as surfaces.  That way my CNC programmer could pick up the edges in Mastercam for engraving. 

I've read many, many threads on engraving text.  No one has a real solution.  It appears a lot of people are still using DXF.  We open the native 3D files directly in Mastercam.  Being able to have a stick font come in as selectable edges would solve our engraving problems.

Can I do this?  Can I extrude a stick font without exploding it?  I have not had any luck.
